One of our more significant goals this year is to develop a new District Strategic plan. Our last plan was in place and covered the ten-year period from 2006-2016. The plan has served us well as a roadmap, not only helping the district establish priorities and ensure that the district continue toward a path of excellence, but also by enhancing the efficiency of organizational resources. The development of a new plan will provide us an exciting opportunity to pause and reflect on our current practices, successes, challenges, new trends, and possibilities for our children in the present and future. We envision the new plan to have a 3-5 year time horizon and to be a living document that is revised as we grow and change.
Throughout the process our current district statements of mission and philosophy will serve as a guide (though these may evolve over the course of planning.)
- Create a shared understanding of where we are, where we’re excelling, what new or different strategies and initiatives we may want to consider, and where we want to improve.
- Strengthen dialogue and engagement across all stakeholder groups including teachers, administrators, parents, students and the broader community.
- Design practical strategies for action and continuous learning, avoiding overly complex or theoretical plans that end up “gathering dust on a shelf.”
- Energize and focus all participants throughout the process.
